Celestial And Astrological Wonders

“The starry vault of heaven is in truth the open book of cosmic projection…”—Carl Jung

Astrology began as a science millennia ago and has grown into a lens for us to interpret ourselves and the world around us. Horoscopes can make us pause and reflect on events and give us a framework for moving forward. Living life by the stars and the planets can change how we approach the unknown and cope with those ups and downs which naturally occur.

Since the beginning of recorded time, humans have looked to the skies for guidance and understanding of the world around them. Astrology is rooted in the belief that celestial events influence earthly occurrences. There exist many traditions of astrological divination. Ancient cultures from South America, China, and India have traditions of astrology and like those, the Hellenistic system of astrology and astronomy began thousands of years ago. As early as the 2nd Millenium BCE, Mesopotamian astrologers advised rulers and explained patterns of planetary movement as omens or signs for divining the future. By 1st Century BCE, Egyptian astrologers added their knowledge to create the familiar concepts of Natal Star Charts, Houses, and Aspects, which modern Western astrology references today.

If you are one of the billions in the world who know if they are a Leo or a Cancer, you are in good company–70 million Americans alone read their horoscope! If you’ve chosen a Dutch & Deckle planner that includes a horoscope for your sign, you’ll notice how our legendary astrologer Maria Shaw highlights the movement of the moon and planets and their influence on your life. For instance, we’ve just left a period of Mercury in Retrograde on February 3rd–you know–that time when neither you nor your electronics seem to be working properly! Mercury is the Messenger God. During this time travel and communication in particular, can often be disrupted. Beware, we will experience 3 more periods of retrograde to move through this year: May 10 to June 2, September 9 to October, and December 28 to January 18 (2023). So, have patience and extra time for reflection during these crazy retrograde periods!

For those of you who enjoy even more detail about the day to come, beginning on April 1st we will have a new addition to our Zodiac planners. A feature called Energy of the Day! This will give you the position of the ruling celestial bodies and a little extra guidance as to how to go about your daily routine. We hope this offering might help you create a more graceful path through the day and bring some peace and tranquility to your life.

Following the moon and stars has always been a passion for the Dutch and Deckle Team. It is our hope that by providing you with a bit of astrological guidance it will bring some logic to your days as well as adding inspiration and fun along the way!
